A very Siri commercial

I've had a go on Siri and it's not really very good, is it? Still, you can do this really hilarious thing where you ask Siri "what are you wearing?". Seriously, if you have an iPhone make sure to show everybody you meet at every available opportunity, it never gets old. Here's a more realistic advertisement for Siri on the iPhone4S. Apple, you're more than welcome to use it in the United Kingdom.

Specs Sheet: lumia 920 vs. Apple iPhone5 (by Krisitian Tuomikumpu)

Here is a really nice Specs Sheet comparison between the Innovative Nokia Lumia 920 and the mediorce Apple iPhone5.

As you can see, the Lumia 920 does quite a number on the iPhone5, a bigger 4.5inch screen, dual LED flash, a bigger cloud ctorage, PureView camera with Carl Zeiss lens, super sensitive synaptics touch screen, a bigger battery, array of exclusive and very useful Nokia Apps, wireless charging and more, much more.

If you are wondering when this awesome Lumia 920 will be available, rumor has it that it is scheduled for release the last week of October, first week of November,

See the really neat Specs Sheet as designed by Kristian Tuomikumpu..

iPhone 5: Customers in the Big Apple camp out 8 days early

By Sunday there were 7 in the queue -- each of them for commercial purposes

Five days to go: Hazem, Sage, Jessica, Keenen, Jackie, Brian and Joseph
FORTUNE -- In the popular imagination -- and in Samsung TV ads -- the people willing to wait in line for days to buy the newest Apple (AAPL) gewgaw are hopeless fanboys and fangirls who need to get a life.
That attitude is so 2007.
Today, occupying a space near enough to the front of an iPhone queue to draw media attention is a commodity with tangible commercial value.
The two guys from Kent camped out in front of Apple's Covent Garden store in London, for example, are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
And each of the seven New Yorkers we met in front of the big glass cube of Apple's Fifth Avenue store on Sunday -- five days and nights before the iPhone 5 goes on sale -- was there on business of one sort or another.
#1 and #2: Hazem Sayed, 54, and his marketing manager Sage (short for Sagittarius), 31, set up camp Thursday at 8 a.m. -- eight days early -- to promote a social media startup called Vibe. Sayed describes it as a tool "to create ad hoc communities of people who happen to be in the same place" -- like an iPhone line. He's invited local developers to use Vibe this week to demo their mobile apps (through a projected image on the sidewalk in front of the growing crowd) and he'll invite the people in the queue to vote -- through Vibe -- for their favorite. "It's a real blue-collar app," says Sage, whose resume includes opening up empty buildings for squatters and doing logistics for Occupy Wall Street. "Jet setters don't get the app because they don't have a neighborhood."
#3 and 4: Jessica Mellow, 27, and Keenen Thompson, 22, are old hands at this. We met them last October when they were Nos. 2 and 1, respectively, in the iPhone 4S line. (See 17 days in the iPhone line: Wet, cold & smelling like Cheetos.) Mellow, who makes a living doing promotions and movie screenings and does body painting (as an artist and model) on the side, is blogging about her experience this week at iphonewhatever.com. Keenen, who worked at Apple retail for a 2.5 years, is now the assistant to a Conde Nast fashion writer. Last year their line-sitting was subsidized by a stipend from Gazelle, a Boston-based company that does a brisk business buying old iPhones just before the launch of a new one. This year Gazelle is doing it again, paying for Mellow and Thompson's iPhone 5s and providing food, drink, camp chairs, sleeping bags, Gazelle-branded t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, wrist bands, and, in case of rain, a tent.
#4, #5, and #6: Jackie Lin, 15, Brian Ceballo, 18, and Joseph Cruz, 19, lucked out. Lin thought he'd hold a early spot in line and sell it to someone with less patience and more money. Ceballo and Cruz, who are cousins, wanted the new phone, but as aspiring musicians (pop, R&B and hip hop), they also hoped to get some of that good free publicity that attends an Apple launch event. All three lucked out when Gazelle showed up and offered to support the first five customers in line. Sayed and Sage, who had their own Vibe thing going, passed. These guys snapped up the offer, and when I met them they were all decked out in Gazelle gear, down to the bright orange wristbands. Lin, meanwhile, has changed his business plan. As long as Gazelle is paying for the iPhone 5, he's going to keep his spot and the free phone.

Samsung attacks iPhone 5 in new ad

Oh, you knew this was going to happen. Samsung is not taking the release of the iPhone 5 lying down. A new ad declares Apple's phone isn't genius.

I don't think they've kissed and made up yet.
I don't even think they're talking.
When one party embarrasses another so badly -- and in public -- you don't expect the hurt one to just take it, do you?
And so Samsung is greeting the arrival of the iPhone 5 with an ad that will run tomorrow in certain national and local newspapers (how modern). It is not a flattering ad. It suggests that the iPhone 5 isn't even good enough to be, well, a copy of the Galaxy S3.
Clearly, it's been hastily put together, but its headline -- "It doesn't take a genius" -- rather prepares you for what follows.
Yes, it's a list of all the fine, rational reasons why the Galaxy S3 is vintage port compared to the iPhone 5's wine-in-a-box.

iPhone 5: Colourful makeover service lets you go pink, or red, or yellow, or...

Those thinking that the black or white versions of the iPhone 5 are a bit boring will be able to get bright, colourful, versions of the new phone when it arrives at the end of the week thanks to Colour Lab.

The UK company, that is already adding colour to iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPad models, has confirmed that it will be doing the same for the iPhone 5.

The company offers to customise your iPhone in 12 different colours with you being able to choose the colour of the front glass plate, the rear glass elements and the home button.

Colours include yellow, red, pink and brown. Yep Nokia Lumia owners aren't the only ones who can go bright.

Which colour will you opt for?

The iPhone 5's A6 SoC: Not A15 or A9, a Custom Apple Core Instead

When Apple announced the iPhone 5, Phil Schiller officially announced what had leaked several days earlier: the phone is powered by Apple's new A6 SoC.

As always, Apple didn't announce clock speeds, CPU microarchitecture, memory bandwidth or GPU details. It did however give us an indication of expected CPU performance:

Prior to the announcement we speculated the iPhone 5's SoC would simply be a higher clocked version of the 32nm A5r2 used in the iPad 2,4. After all, Apple seems to like saving major architecture shifts for the iPad.

However, just prior to the announcement I received some information pointing to a move away from the ARM Cortex A9 used in the A5. Given Apple's reliance on fully licensed ARM cores in the past, the expected performance gains and unpublishable information that started all of this I concluded Apple's A6 SoC likely featured two ARM Cortex A15 cores.

It turns out I was wrong. But pleasantly surprised.

The A6 is the first Apple SoC to use its own ARMv7 based processor design. The CPU core(s) aren't based on a vanilla A9 or A15 design from ARM IP, but instead are something of Apple's own creation.
