MTS: the market for mobile M2M services in Russia has reached three million SIM-cards

The mobile operator MTS has prepared a review of the market M2M services in Russia in the first half of 2012, according to which the market for mobile M2M services in Russia has reached three million SIM-cards. During the year the number of SIM-cards involved in telematics, has grown by 1.6 times (from 1.8 million at the end of the first half of 2011).

Key Applications of M2M solutions:

monitoring of transport (a 40% market share);
business security systems (20%);
remote transmission of data from ATMs and payment terminals (15%);
industry, energy (12%);
consumer electronics (Navigators, trackers, etc.) - (10%).
Among the most promising and rapidly growing M2M applications - telemedicine, e-government services, vending.

Number of SIM-cards MTS used in M2M solutions in Russia for the year, compared with the first half of 2011, increased by 1.8 times to 1.45 million Thus, MTS has around 48% market M2M.
